Good Afternoon Everyone,
It was great to join in a men’s breakfast in Ed’s garden last Saturday. As we now get to the point of being able to invite people to things do please consider which folk you might reach out to.
We have had to return some borrowed specialist equipment (thanks Dave N) and so we have reluctantly come to the conclusion that services will no longer be live-streamed. We will still record our morning services and place them on YouTube shortly after they end to be available from Sunday lunch-time onwards. Thanks to Mike for the hard work that makes this possible.
If people enjoying Zoom coffee wish to continue we invite you to make your own arrangements. I can publicise any joining details for you.
Brian and Jennifer
We give thanks for Glen Schmidt and James Steel as they take the lock-down community quiz on a tour of local pubs to say thank-you to the hospitality industry for volunteering during lock-downs.
We pray for Hope for Life, Katanga and particularly for Director Francis Nkurunziza
Morning Prayer next week at 9.00 a.m. is on Monday at the Vicarage and Wednesday online. Do email Steve if you would like to participate.
Christians Together (Tonight – 9/6)
The main meeting of Christians Together is tonight. We have lost our way a little recently with reps. Derek and Elaine are involved through their work with refugees. Other reps would be welcome. Do drop in to tonight’s meeting to see if it is your thing or not. It is encouraging to hear what is going on in other churches in town.
Ask if you need the Zoom Meeting joining details
We meet in the school at 10.15 a.m. for a service led by Michelle. I am preaching. We will be looking at Mark 9:2-13. If you would like to come please book in with me.
Church Council (14/6)
The Church Council meet at 7.30.
‘Simon and I are pleased to report that the Joint Parish Profile has now been approved by our Church Council and the Wraxall & Failand PCC. This was sent off to the Diocese last Friday and once a vacancy timetable has been set we’ll let you know.’
Jono was with us as an intern for a year and is now a worship leader in Lancaster and also the Lancaster CAP Debt Centre Manager. Recently he attended a Bishops’ Advisory Panel (BAP) to offer for the ordained ministry. I am delighted to tell you he has been accepted and will begin training in autumn 2022. Do pray for him, Amy and Ava.
Trendlewood Community Festival
‘We are 3 months away from the big day (August 28th). Although it is a festival that is community based we, as a church, form a lot of the committee and work-force. We need much prayer as God has called us to do this work.
‘I wondered if anyone would like to be the Festival’s prayer champion? It would involve collating and sharing the needs the Festival with the congregation over the next 3 months.’
Monthly Bible Studies
There was little response to the idea of continuing monthly ‘Going Deeper’ Bible Studies so we will keep them up our sleeves as something we can offer, on-line, from time to time.
Services from the last few weeks are all available on YouTube.
Michelle is this week on her course residential so if there are pastoral matters you would normally refer to her, please contact me.
Bishop Peter has written a lovely blog post on his experience of being treated for leukaemia during lock-down. It is moving and very encouraging.
